The Beautiful Game

…The Untold Story

Boxcar Pavilion · Self-guided, under 30 minutes

The Boxcar Exhibit

Exploring Holocaust history through the role of the railroad system.

Centered around an authentic World War II-era boxcar discovered near the Majdanek death camp in Poland, this exhibition examines the critical role railroads played in the systematic deportation and murder of European Jews during the Holocaust.

Through historical artifacts, interactive maps, photographs, and survivor testimonies, visitors explore the diversity of Jewish life before the Holocaust, the systems that enabled mass deportations, and individual experiences of persecution and resistance.

The exhibition culminates in the Spoken Names Memorial, where the names of Jews murdered during the Holocaust are continuously recited inside the boxcar, transforming an artifact of persecution into a space of remembrance.

Designed as a focused, self-guided experience lasting under 30 minutes.
